Dr. Vidya Kant Shukla

Women have been projected in various ways by writers of modern Indo-English fiction. Male writers have delineated women characters superficially, away from reality. The women are portrayed in dark shades either due to patriarchy or poverty. Women are shown from the male point of view. Women writers like Kamala Markandaya, Anita Desai, Kamala Das, Nayantara Sehgal and Shashi Deshpande have given a new dimension to women and their roles in the family and society. They have been given close attention. Women begin to occupy central stage in the novels of Women writers and the important change that has taken place is that we get a Feminine perspective the Indo-Anglian fiction.
