This research paper examines the effectiveness of wearable fitness trackers in promoting student engagement and participation in physical education (PE) classes. With the increasing prevalence of childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles, understanding how technology can enhance physical activity among students is crucial. The paper evaluates existing literature and presents findings from a study that investigates the motivational impact of fitness trackers on students’ physical activity levels, attitudes towards PE, and overall fitness engagement. This study explores the impact of wearable fitness trackers on student motivation and participation in physical education (PE) programs. With increasing concerns over adolescent inactivity, wearable technology offers a potential solution by providing real-time feedback, goal-setting features, and gamified experiences. A review of multiple school-based interventions revealed mixed outcomes: while some students demonstrated increased engagement and physical activity levels, others showed minimal change. Factors such as novelty effects, teacher involvement, and individual motivation played significant roles in determining effectiveness. The study highlights the importance of integrating wearable technology with supportive educational strategies to maximize its motivational potential.
